car wrapping film

product specification

WRAP@CAR’s Film is a polymer-stabilized, calendered soft-PVC-film that is coated with a durable, repositionable acrylic high-performance adhesive. The adhesive is protected by bleached kraft paper.

fabric

Front material: polymeric, calendered vinyl film, 100 ì thick, cadmium-free. Adhesive: re-positionable, transparent acrylic adhesive, pressure-sensitive. Masking paper: Rugged, bleached kraft paper, 135 g/m2 .

application

WRAP@CAR’s Film is developed for complete foil wrappings of vehicles. The combination of its low initial adhesive force and its softness provides an excellent re-positioning ability. This unique combination allows to easily remove bubbles that accidentally emerge during the wrapping process.

durability

The statements concerning the life span are based on artificial ageing test and weathering at vertical positioning (90° + 5°) and under average European temperatures. Note: Extreme weather conditions like in Southern Europe, in tropical oder subtropical areas accelerate the ageing process. This also applies to heavily polluted industry regions, mountainous regios and to adhesions that are orientated southwards.

shelf film

2 years at 15 to 25°C with a relative humidity of ± 50%. Stock rolls upright and free of pressure.

chemical resistance

24 hours prior to the examination the film is adhered to stainless steel plate. The plate undergoes a preece test or a spray test over a specific period. After the drying the adhesive force is measured.

Preece test Duration of examination Result
- water 24 hours excellent
- 5% suds 24 hours excellent
- 10% hydrochloric acid 24 hours excellent
- 10% sulphuric acid 24 hours excellent
- 10% phosphoric acid 24 hours good - excellent
- 10% caustic soda 24 hours excellent
- 10% ammonium hydroxides 24 hours excellent
- ethylene glycol 24 hours excellent
- methanol 1 hour good
- SAE 10 engine oil 24 hours excellent

benzine resistance

The sample is prepared the same way as in the chemical resistance examination. It is sprayed serveral times with benzine and dryed after each time.

Tested fuel   Result
- benzine with low octane value   good
- benzine with high octane value   good

processing

Cleaning and degreasing of the surface
The vehicle’s surface is cleaned with a cleaning solution in order to completely remove dirt and dust. Afterwards the surface is degreased with isopropyl alcohol.

Adherening
- On flat and arched surfaces
Wrap@car’s Film is adhered dry directly to the vehicle. We recommend to use a felt ductor in order to avoid smears and scratches while pressing on the film.

- On arched surfaces
In order to adhere the film to arched parts, it must be previously heated up with a hot-air blow-dryer.

- In deepenings
If one stretches the film into deepenings it can peel off after a couple of weeks. Therefore we recommend to carve the film in these spots and to adhere it into the deepenings without tensioning the film.

- Over rivets
Over rivets, the foil is adhered with high contact pressure and is heated up with a hot-air blow-dryer (temperature above 500°C). However, the film can partially peel off a little bit after a couple of weeks.

Peeling off the film
Prior to peeling off the film it must be heated up with a hot-air blow-dryer.

Sealing of edges and lacquering
If chemicals or solvents could reach the edges of the film, these should be previously sealed in order to prevent a debonding of the film’s edges. A flawless over-lacquering of the film provides better durability and protection against ongoing bad weather, abrasion or other agressive impacts like permanent cleaning.
